Our mission is to support our clients in being their truest selves for their special occasions by masterfully averting the stress and frustration of event planning. Lucky Penny Creative values kindness and creativity in equal measure, and cultivates a working style that encourages new ideas, inclusion, and hard work.
Alex Fisher, owner and head cheerleader of Lucky Penny Creative, has been immersed in the wedding and event industry since 2007. An Asheville native, Alex’s very first job serendipitously situated her in the world of event planning as an event assistant for Homewood Castle, one of Asheville’s premier venues. She then acquired behind the scenes planning know-how as a floral designer with the fabulous crew of Blossoms at Biltmore Park for five years. During her time with Blossoms she also attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville where she received her Bachelor’s in Photography + Small Business Management.
From 2009 to 2017, Alex produced and managed the National Arts & Crafts Conference at the Omni Grove Park Inn. With over 125 exhibitors and thousands of attendees from across the United States, it is the largest and longest running conference of its kind. Alex has also served as the Events Coordinator for the Asheville Art Museum, planning and implementing wide-ranging events including their Fine Art Print Fair, The Big Crafty, The Big Day, Black & White Soiree, and Toast Asheville. Alex’s multifaceted experience gives her a unique set of tools for conceptualizing, producing and truly rocking the diverse wedding client base she works with today.
Alongside Alex’s expertise in event planning and styling, her interest in do-it-yourself craft cultures and fine art shapes her design aesthetic. Alex splits her time between Asheville, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina and offers Lucky Penny Creative services from Upstate South Carolina to the Western North Carolina mountains and all across the United States and beyond.
When she’s not planning events, Alex enjoys hiking, trying out new recipes and DIY projects, writing, attending political rallies and supporting marginalized communities across the South, keeping a cozy home with her partner Ethan, visiting her local coffee shops, volunteering her time with community non-profits, hosting pop up events at her studio and enjoying a Harry Potter movie marathon every now and then.
